3:27PM GMT: I am here in Paris, alive and well! Will make more updates and review the day laterrrrrrrr. Au revoir! 11:50PM GMT: I AM BACK at my hostel and am tired, but not tired enough to not recount some cool things that happened today. I'm still in disbelief that I am in ~Paris~ right now. Even though I've only got a tiny glimpse of it so far, I really understand why Paris is such a popular and loved travel spot. HOSTEL: Convenient, clean, cozy. I have already found the hostel experience to be quite unique and fun. The hostel I am at is located near a major station, so getting from the airport to here was pretty smooth. The hostel staff is very welcoming and quick to give tips about what to do in the area and such. A lot of the gals in my (all-female) room are from the States and in general it's easy to find common ground with my hostelmates (roommates? Francemates?) because we are all travelers in a foreign place. I was blessedish with a top bunk - climbing up the ladder all the time is kind of annoying, but it's nice to hang stuff off of. Otherwise, I am very comfortable here. EIFFEL TOWER & CHAMP DE MARS: Touristy, tall, thiccc with culture and history. After getting settled and showering in French water (yum) (just kidding it felt exactly like American water), a hostelmate and I grabbed some food from a nearby shop and metro'd to the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars. **Tangent: No food pictures today!!! I was eating on the go and kind of forgot to document my food. If it helps, you can imagine a small cappuccino, a salmon quiche, and a cream croissant. Je suis désolé. While planning for the trip, I kind of already knew I wasn't really interested in climbing the tower. I decided to admire it from the outside and it honestly is such a beautiful building. We were able to walk very close to the tower and approach it at different angles, hence my gallery of pictures above. You can think of it as "6 Ways of Seeing the Eiffel Tower." Seeing it up close made me feel immensely small, but also showed me its magnificence in a way? Every link, attachment, truss, etc. is placed so beautifully - I don't think it's something I ever noticed or appreciated from seeing the Eiffel Tower in pamphlets or even from a far distance. Champ de Mars was cool too. I don't have much to say about it honestly. I think I was a bit too enamored by the tower (for good reason) to appreciate the park. However, it was nice to see people actually lounging outside and sitting on the grass. People seemed to really enjoy the space. Oooh, we also saw a ton of older French men get together and play bocce ball at the park. I swear there were times the ball would get close to us and I thought they would ask my hostelmate and me to join them. You know that glint of the eye? Yah, that sort of thing. But nah, never happened. Heehee. Some stuff I noticed as we walked and such
Bonsoir!
